GROWING

With this issue, Chiangmai's most popular monthly takes another step forwards with extra colour pages - and new advertising clients which include our first truly international name. This couldn't have been achieved without the support of you, the reader, and the growing awareness within the marketing world that we put YOU and your interests first. A big thank you, folks!

Back in April we began to feature art, paintings and sculptures produced locally by both Thai and foreign artists. This was so well received that we return to the subject this month to mark an important exhibition of contemporary art at the huge - yet largely unknown - Art Museum at the northern end of Nimmanhemin Road. "It's a fun place" said former Governor Pravit Sihsobhon. He was right and there has never been a better time to explore it. Read UK artist Michael Croft's feature and "sort of" biography first - then I promise you'll get even more out of your visit.

Talking of visiting, people and goods should be flowing freely to and from Mae Sai and Tachilek in Burma by the time you read this. The closest border for tourist visa extensions (and re-entries on multiple visas) is back in business then, but don't let this put you off the delights of Vientiane, described colourfully by our new man in Nong Khai.

And keep those letters coming! What YOU think and write has become one of our most popular pages, as well as a source of some real inspiration within this office.

PAINS

It's a terrible truism that success seldom comes without pain - and all these good things seem to be happening against a background of local rumours that, yet again, we have gone out of business. These are the annual local mutterings in an over-crowded market place which we take with a pinch of salt. But this time some staff movements and consequent unanswered telephones have probably contributed to the premature reports of our demise. Given a choice of fully manning the office OR producing the July magazine, we thought you'd prefer the latter. So here's the monthly miracle, regular as clockwork - and with our apologies for maybe neglecting your calls for a while!
