Straight in to the Chiangmai Pool League and straight to the top
- that's how Blue Sky Garden in Rachamanka Road tackled their first appearances
last month!
Leaving last year's champions Rock Hard Bistro struggling, Blue
Sky led the League at time of going to press with the improved Hill
& Slither Bar and supercharged Viking Bar right up there
too.
In the back of CM Entertainment Plaza, Loi Kroh Road, H&S have a
good, fast table and a consistent finishing record, but it's the new faces
in the Viking team, tieing with them at our press time, which caused the
stir. From second last to equal second must be a team manager's dream and
their Thai-farang mix looks formidable.
Tucked away in the little sois between Loi Kroh and Thapae Road, the
Anglo-German-Thai alliance at Flamingo is out in force again. Boosted
in bodies by their steady rise to fortune last year, Rock Hard split into
2 teams for their 2003 assault. But it's not going according to plan. Rock
Hard lay 5th out of 10 and Rock Harder were languishing in 8th close to
the month end. Dutch Frank's No Name Cafe led UK Darren's Home
to Roost in these early games - but there's a long way to go!
JUST LIKE THE REAL THING?
Almost! The Spitfire Mk V111 in RAAF livery (no red to avoid confusion
with the enemy by ground gunners), arguably the best looking piston-engined
plane ever! Framed in dark Thai timber, each piece is numbered and only
1000 pieces will ever be produced. Made by Thai craftsmen with care.
Up 2 U has had a disappointing start to the season, the former
mid-fielders languishing in 9th, ahead of never-say-die December Bar
who say they are truly the foundation of the League, holding up the rest.
Everyone was sorry to lose the talented and popular Lucky Bar team
this season, out only because the players were mostly the staff, which
meant panic time at away games. Come check it out at any of the Friday
night home games.
A natural product which began development in a Bangkok test tube in
1987 is now grown in 15,000 square meters of ponds near Sanpatong and exported
all over the world.
Chinese zoo officials will visit Chiangmai's proposed
site for the expensive air-conditioned quarters being prepared for a mating
